Ingrid returns in the second Echo Falls mystery, this time in pursuit of answers to problems that hit very close to home. Everyone around her is acting strangely, and Ingrid is determined to use her wealth of Sherlock Holmes knowledge to get to the bottom of it all. First on the list: how has her football-obsessed brother become so developed so quickly? And why does he keep biting her head off? Second: what could be going on at work to make her happy-go-lucky father so tense? And finally, why is everyone after her grandfather’s land? When her investigation puts her in danger, Ingrid knows she is on the right track. Too bad no one believes her. It looks like she will have to stage an elaborate sting operation to put everything to rest once and for all.
Ingrid is as delightful as ever and her developing relationship with Chief Strade’s son, Joey, is adorable and reasonably paced. In addition, the various story lines come together perfectly as Ingrid examines the clues. Holmes would be proud of his protege. Readers will be eager for the next installment.
