Le Cirque des Rêves appears without warning, is open only at night, and is full of wonders you cannot even begin to imagine. Its fans follow it across Europe, marveling in the spectacle that never gets boring. Each showing is new and magical, the acts full of wonder and delight. Celia and Marco exist at the center of this world, talented magicians groomed since childhood to take part in a deadly competition. As love blossoms between them, the fate of the circus and everyone they know stands in the balance.
Morgenstern’s writing is like the most eloquent and divine poetry. The imagery alone is enough to make a word-lover swoon. The story, however, adds another layer of beauty and intrigue that heightens the pleasure of the reader even further. Celia and Marco are interesting and fully realized characters, and their friends and fellow circus folks are so colorful and artfully drawn that it is impossible not to fall in love with their world. Imagination and passion rule this novel, and one hopes for it to never end.
