Following their adventures in the Palace of Laughter, Little and Miles return and join the Circus Bolsillo.  When a mysterious fortune-teller claims to have known Miles’ parents, the two friends begin to hunt for the truth of his past, but find themselves drawn into the search for a mysterious artifact instead.  Could the Tiger’s Egg be the key to reuniting Miles with his family?  Or does someone have a sinister plan for the powerful object?

Miles and Little return in another interesting tale full of colorful characters and delightful adventures.   Doctor Tau-Tau is well-drawn and suitably mysterious while also being amusing.  All of the cast delight, but the tiger of this story is particularly appealing and fits nicely with circus elements already present.  The legend of the Tiger’s Egg is inventive and should appeal to readers young and old, and Berkeley’s style continues to sing.  I am unnaturally in love with the art of the cover, and the story beneath does not disappoint.
